Helen and I have been to Bali diving many times. We first came together in 2009 when we organised a group of 10 friends to undertake a trip through Aquamarine Diving Bali to Talumben. We came again by ourselves in 2015, through Aquamarine and met a guide who was to become a close friend, Parman Joseph. More about Parman later. Over time I will bring the whole collection of trips to this page. I will put up a separate page on our activities with Parman and Sari during COVID later.
2018 Amed Bali Indonesia
In 2018 we joined a group run by Paul McDonald of Underwaterpix. He and his wife Elizabeth organise a trip each year to Amed. During this trip we dived with Bali Reef Divers and met a Guide, Sari, who with his his wife Komang and kids Agus and Esther have become extended family to us.
May 2025 Bali Indonesia
In May 2025 we travelled once again to Dive with Underwater Tribe. This time we were joined by Helen’s ‘cousin’ Lynne and her son, Kyle, and his girlfriend, Sarah (non Diver) from Alicante in Spain. Parman could not guarantee his time with us so we had a new Guide Donni and new apprentice Dive Guide Rovi. Once again we had the delightful Komang as our Driver
On this trip we travelled to Menganjan on the far northwest coast all the way across to Talumben and Amed. 14 Dives over 7 days, followed by a week R&R at the Nusa Dua Beach Resort south of Kuta.
October 2025 Amed Bali Indonesia
In October 2025 Helen and I travelled to Bali to dive Amed and Talumben with the Underwater Tribe, this time Mocco, Rovi and Gede. We stayed at the Bali Dive Resort Amed again and were welcomed like long lost family. it was the first trip with my new OM Systems TG7 camera and Inon D220 strobe. Mocco was an expert in the TG7 so I learned heaps from him to the point on the last two dives I used a snoot cover for my torch instead of the Strobe.
The second week was pent chilling at the Murasaka Resort in Nusa Dua.
